"With her meaningful mix of jazz, folk, blues and world music, Laurie Cagno reminds me of Joni Mitchell with the soul of Janis Joplin." - Robert Makin, Courier News, 3/18/99 The first time I saw Laurie do her thing she reminded me a little of Rickie Lee Jones. This was about 6 or 7 years ago when she was writing with Todd Sheaffer and the result was her first release "Dancing Cantos". Since then she has grown into a vocal powerhouse with an incredible dynamic range. Her energy is barely controlled and always contagious - and she is connected to the spirit on a transformative level. She scoped me out way before I was ready to be playing my tribal tools on stage. Our first gig together was at Waterloo Village opening for From Good Homes, and the magic was there from the start. Since then I've had the pleasure of working with some incredible musicians who have contributed to her music including the Harpoon Daddies, Gregg Cagno (her cuz), David Coppola (who co-wrote, produced and arranged much of her follow-up release "Dreams Keep Asking to Dance") Larry Debari, Rusty Springfield, Marty Paglioni, Brad Giaimo and currently Suzanne Carrington (pictured above) and Randy Artiglere.God-willing we'll be rockin through the millenium and beyond! |
