* * MARAFANYI TRIP TO GUINEA, WEST AFRICA '07 * *
Due to the unfortunate and unsafe political instability in Guinea since January we had to post-pone our journey this year. Please keep our friends across the big pond in your prayers, and stay tuned for Guinea Artist Assistance Project fundraising events. For those interested, recommend the BBC's overview of Guinea found at the link below - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/country_profiles/1032311.stm In our travels to Guinea we have seen first hand how difficult it is to survive in a 3rd World country. 6 months of rain = plenty mosquitoes = much malaria. No work = no pay = no medicine. It's an unfortunate cycle in which we have lost several teachers and friends already. Thus, we are inspired to assist these artists and compadres who are a big part of our lives, and have so generously contributed to Marafanyi's artistic evolution * Guinea Artiste Assistance Project * * Photos & Journals * Africa Sponsors * * Supply List for 2008 Trip * |
